frequently asked questions

What areas do you service?

We generally service all of Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties. We do build outside of these areas on a case by case basis.

How do we get started?

It’s easiest to talk by phone so a salesperson can get some information and put together a quote. We can usually do this in just a couple of minutes. We can even text you pictures of the particular building we are discussing. If everything is to your liking, we can either set up an appointment to come to your location to inspect the site and to go over any options in placement, style, size or accessories or we can email you a complete proposal for your review.

Do you have a retail location?

We currently do not. This greatly reduces our overhead so can we pass the savings on to our customers. We typically have to inspect your site regardless, so we come to you.

Do I need a permit?

Let us know what city you are in and we can assist you with any zoning or permit questions. Every city is different. Currently in Michigan, there is no building permit required for a building 200 sq ft or smaller. Your city may require a small zoning fee or require a cement rat wall in some cases. If needed, we will supply you with all the information needed in the application process.

Do you install kits or deliver pre built sheds?

Buying a box of pre-cut parts is not cost-effective for the homeowner. We would rather hand select and cut your lumber rather than fight with the twisted, miss-cut parts you will ultimately get with a kit. We prefer to stick build all of our buildings on site then deliver premade sheds. When buying a premade shed, you are most likely getting a display building that has had its tires kicked and doors slammed many times. Gates and poor access are no problem for us.

Do I need a concrete foundation?

Our buildings with wood floors sit on pressure-treated runners designed to sit directly on the ground. There is no need for a cement footing or a slab unless you would prefer or your city requires it. We have several options for areas that are unlevel or extremely wet. If you decide that you would like a concrete floor, we do that as well. No outsourcing.

How long does it take to put up a shed?

In most cases, less than one day. For example, a 10 x 12 shed with a couple of options and easy access to the site takes two builders around 5 to 6 hours to complete. Obviously sheds of different sizes and options could take longer.
